It’d been months since I’d been to Bucktown’s boutique hotel – The Robey. In January I was fortunate to spend a long weekend here as a guest of Lululemon’s in their Run|ORD retreat, a “more than miles, whatever the weather” winter run event. The experience was fantastic and there will always be a place in my heart for the people I met … and this hotel.
Located on the corner of North, Milwaukee and Damen, the hotel itself is shaped like a “V,” which for me adds to it’s uniqueness and draw.
Days to Burn
A short while ago I realized that I had (and still have) plenty of PTO to burn. So I decided to “Ferris Bueller” last Friday, albeit legitimately. But what would I do? Where would I go?
Playing the day by ear and feeling a bit nostalgic, I decided to swing through Cafe Robey for breakfast. I wish I’d have taken more photos of the cafe itself but I’ll have to return another time to get them. Both the service and food were good – I had the Avocado Toast and also tried the Omelette (seen below).
Not So Fast
I headed to the second floor to wash up before heading out and found myself captivated by the common and seating areas that are open to the public. I didn’t make it through these parts during my January stay; the marriage of bounds of natural light against Kubrick-esque decor commanded me to grab my camera once more and stay awhile.
Check it Out
If you find yourself in Bucktown, stop by The Robey. At the very least, treat yourself to a coffee or walk through the inviting lobby. And, in warmer seasons you can take advantage of their 6th floor Cabana Club and 13th floor rooftop lounge, Up & Up.
Have you ever been to The Robey? Where’s your favorite place to stay? I’d love to hear about it.
Have a great Wednesday!
