The Versatility of the Oxford Shirt

This week’s style feature is Chicago-casual from 31 floors up. I didn’t wake up like this, but it looks like I did in that oxford shirt that needs an iron run over it.

Style Tip: Keep the Pins in the Air

It’s been one hell of a week. Tricia’s in London for work and I have a cat, dog, new work projects and marathon training to juggle. On the positive, she returns on Saturday. God help me.

The Oxford Shirt

Banana Republic – Grant Slim-fit Oxford. I’m a big fan of the Oxford, which is a shirt made from a heavier yarn than finer shirts, making it more casual and in my experience, more durable. This particular pattern is out-of-season and no longer on their site, but there are plenty more options to suit you. Great for work or the weekend, this button-down is comfortable, washable, and yes, iron-able. Fun fact: did you know that “button-down” refers to the shirt’s collar? If your shirt’s collar has buttons, your shirt is a button-down.

Calvin Klein – slim straight leg osaka blue wash jeans. They’re my favorite. They’re comfortable and they bend and breathe with me. I actually have two pair of these same jeans (one of which is a bit faded) and a black pair.

My advice: when you find something that fits you just right, whether it’s a pair of jeans or a t-shirt or whatever, grab multiple of them. Chances are you’ll be wearing them often, and having multiple will ensure that you have a clean one laying in wait.

Shoe Style

Zara – blue driving shoes w/tassels. Caught them on sale – how bow dah! But for real, they’re great. They’ll dress up or down any outfit (I often wear them with my Tommy John joggers on Sundays). Make sure you get yourself some no-show socks though, or else: pee-eeewww!
